The Five Days

Your journey in handbuilding

Begin your journey with an introduction to different clay types and how to prepare them through wedging. Watch a full demo of the pinching technique, then try creating your first organic vessel with guided instruction.

Day 02

Coil Building Techniques

Build height and volume by practicing how to roll even coils. Focus on the score-and-slip method to ensure strong bonds while developing the skills needed to create stable, rhythmic walls.

Day 03

Learn how to roll out consistent slabs and create geometric forms. Concentrate on cutting templates and joining flat planes to build a strong foundation for functional pottery like boxes or mugs.

Day 04

Complex Forms & Custom Projects

Apply your skills to create more complex pieces or recreate a desired design. Focus on combining techniques, adding functional attachments like handles, and using tools to refine original, intricate shapes.

Day 05

Drying, Maintenance & Firing

Frequently Asked Questions

The process typically takes about 2 weeks. We will let you know when you’re ready for collection. We can schedule shipping to India for an additional fee.

A majority of students produce 5 to 6 pieces over five days. This is dependent on the size and level of goals. Each piece is not guaranteed to survive (that’s part of the clay’s nature! ). However, you’ll usually take home 5 fired glazes that you can take home.

It is highly recommended that you attend every day. Suppose you are unable to attend a session due to an unexpected event. It is possible to schedule an additional session, based on studio capacity. Contact us for more information about the situation.
