Hand Building

Discover the Art of Creating with Your Hands

Come explore the art of hand building pottery at Creative Hands where tradition meets creativity, and every piece you make holds the touch of your personal story.

🗓️

In this age of technology and speed, there’s a deep sense of groundedness in working with one’s hands, especially when it involves clay. Here at Creative Hands Studio, we invite you to slow down and embrace your creative senses while enjoying the ancient art of creating pottery with your hands.

In contrast to wheel throwing, hand building isn’t dependent on mechanical tools or quick turns. It’s about the close interaction between your hands and the clay, pressing, pinching, and rolling it, then coiling and shaping it into forms that express your creativity.

The studio we have located in Ras Al Khaimah is a haven for interested artists or hobbyists seeking a fun escape from their daily routine. The studio is equipped with the necessary equipment, space, and inspiration. All you have to do is bring your interest. Every time you press your fingertips and each twist of your palm, you’ll find out not only the best way to mould clay, but also how clay will shape the shape of you.

What Is Hand Building?

Hand-building is a classic technique in pottery that involves shaping clay using simple hands and tools, without the use of a wheel, for potters.

What You Can Make with Hand Building

Hand-building is highly versatile. In our workshop, students have made everything:

  • Mugs, bowls, and plates
  • Vases and pots
  • Jewelry trays and holders
  • Figurines and sculptures with decorative features
  • Tile mosaics and wall hangings
