3D Moon Art Workshop at Creative Hands Pottery Studio

Duration: 1 Hour 30 Minutes | Price: AED 150

3D Moon Art

Hello, fellow moon lovers and clay enthusiasts! I’m so excited to welcome you into our studio for one of my absolute favorite sessions the 3D Moon Art Lamp Texture Workshop. There’s something truly special about shaping clay under soft lights while we bring the surface of the moon right into our hands. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have tried a bit of pottery before, this 1-hour 30-minute guided experience is designed for pure relaxation, creativity, and that wonderful ā€œI made this!ā€ moment at the end.

For just AED 150, you’ll leave with your own unique 3D moon art piece ready for firing (we handle the glazing and kiln process afterward so you can take home a finished treasure in a follow-up).

What to Expect

When you arrive, we begin by introducing the concept of Moon Art a unique style where we create textured, moon like surfaces on clay or canvas, giving it a realistic celestial feel. I guide you through each step slowly, making sure you feel comfortable and confident.

Step-by-Step: Creating Your 3D Moon Art

First, we start with the base material. Depending on the session, it could be a clay board or a prepared canvas. I demonstrate how to prepare the surface properly.Ā

Welcome & Introduction (First 10 Minutes)

When everyone is settled in, I explain the idea that it is Moon Art not only as a painting but as a textured, layered piece of art. I show the finished work to let you see the work you’re creating. However, I always remind my students that there are no moons that will ever be identical, and that’s the appeal of the art.

We’ll walk you through the tools that are in front of you, which include your canvas brushes, palette knives, texture paste and paints. Even if you’ve not painted before, I’ll guide you in a step by step manner with absolutely no pressure.

Creating the Background (20 Minutes)

We start with the base, the sky.

I often demonstrate the process of blending colors effortlessly across the canvas, creating the dreamy effect of the night sky. Some people prefer deep blues and dark blacks while others experiment with violets or even pink hints.

This is how:

  • Blend colors effortlessly
  • Create depth by using lighter and darker tones
  • Make subtle gradients that help the moon pop out more.

The stage is extremely relaxing. You’ll notice people slowly settling into their personal rhythm.

Building the Moon Texture (30 Minutes)

The magic truly begins.

Utilizing the texture paste as well as palette knives, I help you through the process of shaping your moon. I will show you how:

  • The paste should be applied in a circular shape.
  • Natural imperfections and craters can be created.
  • Layer textures to create an authentic lunar effect

I always suggest some experimentation here. Some prefer a smooth moon, while others prefer a rough and stunning surface. There is no right way, only your own way.

After the texture is created we let it dry slightly before proceeding on to the next phase.

Final touches & detailing (10 Minutes)

To finish the design, we add the small finishing elements that can make the biggest impact.

This may include:

  • Small stars, or even splatter effect in the background
  • Moonlight glows softly around
  • Personal touches of creativity (some even include simple designs or silhouettes)

I walk around all the time at this point, providing individual advice and helping to refine each piece.

Wrap up & takeaway (Last 10 Minutes)

At the end of the session At the end of the session, you’ll have a finished Moon Art canvas an original piece that expresses your personal style.

We have a moment to look at each other’s work and I am amazed at how different each piece plays out even though we took the same path.

The Experience

From my experience teaching many students, the most beautiful part of this session is how relaxing and satisfying it feels. People often come in thinking they can’t do art — but by the end, they’re surprised at what they’ve created.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about enjoying every step touching the clay experimenting with textures and watching your artwork slowly come to life.

Final Thoughts

As an instructor, I would like to inform my students about the fact that class is more than a simple class. It’s an opportunity to slow down and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In this one minute and a half you’re more than simply learning a technique, you’re also allowing yourself to unwind, discover your imagination and revel in each moment.

What is what makes a Moon Art session truly special is the personalization it offers. Every piece you make reflects the individuality of your style, mood and your creativity. Every moon is identical and that’s the appeal of it. When you arrive feeling enthusiastic and curious, or uncertain, it’s likely that you’ll become more at ease as time continues.

A lot of my students say to me that at the end of class, they are energized as well as proud and impressed by the things they’ve done. It’s not about perfection. It’s about feeling the satisfaction of creating something by yourself.

If you come with us on your own for a little “me time,” or join with your family or friends to enjoy the experience together, you’ll walk away with more than one piece of art. You’ll be able to take home a moment and a feeling of achievement and a work that you’ll be able to truly identify as your personal own.
